BACK WITH A BANG

This month, Rork Projects employees converged on the Gold Coast for the company’s annual conference.

With consultation of the Traditional Owners of the region, the conference was named Ngali Ganna Garalbu; which means We Learn Together in the Yugamebah language of the greater Gold Coast and Tweed region.

Over a jam-packed two and a half days, employees from across Rork Projects’ four states participated in team building activities and development sessions, all with the exciting backdrop of Sea World Resort.

Each of Rork’s four states travelled in a specially chosen coloured, tropical outfit. While extremely colourful and fun, the outfits were actually introduced to help us to easily see whether employees were mixing with colleagues from other states during day one. By getting to know each other better, we create a stronger support network – made more impactful connections – all hopefully leading to business growth.

A core component of our conference was participating in a cultural immersion program with representatives from the Bundjalung Nation. At Minjungbal Museum and Cultural Centre at Tweed Heads, our teams had the chance to learn and experience different traditional cultural practices, including dance, storytelling through painting and bush foods. It was an incredibly rewarding experience and we are so grateful to the community and Elders for sharing their knowledge with us.

The conference also presented an opportunity for Rork Projects Co-Owners Brian O’Rourke and John Paul Janke to acknowledge the achievements of our teams, with a some major awards presented to our staff.

Rork Projects’ Employee of the Year – The Rork Way Award – was this year presented to our Gavin Cooper. Over the last year Gavin has supported his team, he has taken ownership, he consistently works to the highest standards, he respects his colleagues and clients and he has improved what we do and how we do it.

This year Rork Projects introduced a new award, The Rising Star Award. This award is presented to Rork Projects’ highest achiever under 30 years of age and the inaugural recipient of this award is Alex Sutherland. Alex’s hard work, attitude and approach permeates through everything he does and he is a critical part of the team.
