Rork wins Employer of Choice Award 2019

Rork Projects has been recognised as an Employer of Choice (EOC) in The Australian Business Awards 2019.

The Award acknowledges Rork Projects’ culture of collaboration, inclusion, innovation and shared commitment to excellence.

From humble beginnings in Canberra, Rork Projects is now Australia’s leading Indigenous fit-out and refurbishment company, offering comprehensive and tailored solutions to the education, medical, corporate and government sectors.

The multi award-winning business now proudly boasts some 70 staff working across offices in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane – who run up to 25 projects at any one time all over the country.

The Australian Business Awards – now in their fourteenth year – are an annual all-encompassing awards program which recognises organisations that demonstrate the core values of business innovation, product innovation, technological achievement and employee engagement via a set of comprehensive award categories.

The EOC accolade recognises organisations which have developed workplaces that maximise the full potential of their workforce through practices that demonstrate effective employee recruitment, engagement and retention.

Brian O’Rourke, MD of Rork Projects says the esteemed award is recognition of the Rork’s managerial practices and ongoing commitment to the development and engagement of its people.

“As one of only two construction companies to receive this prestigious award, we are extremely proud to be recognised as an ABA Winner for Employer Of Choice.”

“This is recognition of the people behind our success and our commitment to their professional development, well-being and individual goals. Our collaborative, and inclusive culture enables us to adapt and advance in a competitive fast paced industry.

As an Indigenous Business, Rork Projects vision is to meaningfully engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in order to build reciprocal capacity, leverage on and create opportunities for Indigenous employment and businesses from procurement.

Rork are proud members of Supply Nation and committed to Indigenous business development; supporting, developing and fostering opportunities for new partnerships within our supplier and sub-contractor chains, shaping the future of Indigenous business in Australia.

According to the Australian Business Awards Program Director, Ms Tara Johnston, the Australian Business Awards exist to recognise organisations within Australia that are committed to their employees and their customers.

“Fifty-two organisations have been selected in this year’s Employer of Choice Awards. These organisations have demonstrated innovative leadership and management practices that engage and support their workforce.

“The awards resonate with our mission of highlighting organisations within Australia that foster a culture of innovation, promoting teamwork and problem-solving.

“Fostering a culture of innovation is essential for every organisation. Organisations that are innovation-focused experience improved business efficiency, staff performance and retention,” Ms Johnston added.

The Australian Business Awards program provides notable opportunities for high-performing organisations to be acknowledged and honoured for their achievements both nationally and internationally.

The Employer of Choice Award recipients will participate in the international chapter of the program at the World Business Awards whereby participants are provided with the unique opportunity to benchmark themselves against the top performers globally.

The Employer of Choice Framework (EOC Framework) is utilised as a structured model of assessment that enables the participating organisations to be benchmarked against world class performance standards through a global recognition and knowledge building initiative that is underpinned by the program’s established framework.

The key attributes of the EOC Framework define the characteristics of well-managed, high-performing, industry-leading organisations that provide a stimulating and supportive workplace.

Entrant organisations are required to demonstrate their achievements across the key areas of Organisational Culture; Leadership & Strategy; Employee Education, Training & Development; Employee Health, Safety & Satisfaction; Performance Management; Recognition & Remuneration.

Organisational participation includes private companies, publicly listed companies, multi-national subsidiaries, non-government organisations, educational institutions, franchise systems, partnerships, government departments, government agencies, local government and statutory bodies operating in Australia.
