Leadership changes announced at Rork Projects

Rork Projects has today announced changes to its Executive Leadership Team with new General Managers appointed for Queensland and Victoria.

Victorian General Manager Steven Raymond has accepted an offer to move to Brisbane to fill the recently vacated General Manager post for Rork Projects Queensland. He is replacing Matt Clayton, who has decided to pursue a new opportunity after a rewarding 3 ½ years with the company.

In turn, this has created an opportunity in Victoria to promote internally by moving the state’s current Construction Manager Scott Dekker into the position of General Manager.

A respected and experienced leader in our industry, Steve Raymond first joined Rork Projects in 2012. In his 10 years at Rork Projects Steve has moved from the delivery teams in Canberra and Sydney to General Manager of Victoria; where he took the state from its first employee and first project to the award-winning team it is today.

“I’m so proud of what I was able to achieve in Victoria, from delivering Rork Projects’ largest ever project to expanding our team to the regions,” Steve said.

“Rork Queensland has a strong team delivering some great projects and it is a state that I think is on the cusp of exploding.

“That potential is exciting to me as I’m ready for a new challenge.

“I’m also comfortable stepping away from our Victorian team as I know its in very good hands with Scott Dekker.”

Scott Dekker has more than 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, including 18 years with a Tier 1 organisation. Having spent a large portion of his career at senior management level with overarching responsibility and accountability for the quality delivery of various sized construction projects throughout Australia, his skillset is unparalleled.

“Steve has created a great culture amongst the team here in Melbourne, I am excited to be stepping up to continue the legacy,” Scott said.

As part of the internal changes, Regional Construction Manager Scott Kennett has been promoted to Construction Manager Victoria to provide leadership support to Scott Dekker. Scott Kennett has been a senior member of the team in Victoria for many years and he brings a depth of experience working across regional and urban projects for both the public and private sectors.

Rork Projects Managing Director Brian O’Rourke said that although these announcements mean change, they also highlight how much stability there is at Rork Projects.

“More than ever it’s important that we look after our people and I’d like to congratulate Steve and Scott on their new appointments,” Brian said.

“I’m proud to have a company that promotes from within, encourages growth and can support its people to achieve their goals.

“I’d also like to thank our outgoing General Manager Matthew Clayton for his leadership, friendship and support over the last several years. Matt achieved significant growth for Rork Queensland as he led the state through the challenges of the pandemic and we wish him all the best for his next opportunity.”
