Stage one of work at ISPT Southgate Shopping Centre is well underway with extraction of the existing and replacement of new lower level moving walkways complete, in readiness for commissioning.
Rork Projects’ Contract Administrator David Fonseca said the logistics around dismantling and extracting any large equipment in a highly trafficked shopping centre, requires particular care and expertise.
“Experience, planning, and communication were key factors for the safety and success of the installation,” said David.
“Our experience with similar works (such as at Marrickville Metro) meant we have been able to address and mitigate any potential delays or issues before they happen.”
The team has designed and engineered a purpose-built portal framing and monorail system to remove and install the new travelators safely and with minimum disruption.
With December fast approaching the team is focused on ensuring all works are complete and ready for the Christmas trading period.
