PROGRESS REPORT: Gold Creek Senior School

At the end of June, Rork Projects held a traditional Smoking Ceremony to mark the start of works on the Gold Creek School expansion program for the ACT Education Directorate. Now, almost six months on, work is rapidly progressing on site at Gold Creek.

The expansion will deliver a mixture of contemporary learning areas ranging from large studios, adaptable learning spaces and smaller quiet spaces, all of which are connected to the outdoors and integrated to the existing school buildings. It will also include a new staff workspace, meeting rooms and amenities for staff and students.

Over the past few months, the team on site at Gold Creek have been busy with works finalising the new structure including the installation of the lift shaft, creation of the fire compartment and the level 1 slab culminating with the structural steel with roof trusses.

General Manager of Rork Projects in Canberra, Scott Lamb said that he is extremely proud of how the works are tracking so far.

“Our team and contractors have done an impressive job so far,” he said. “and we would like to thank them for their continued efforts”

“It is essential that we continue to follow a very tight timeline for these works, in order to have the extension ready for up to 200 students to move in middle of the 2022 school year” Lamb has said.

In the coming weeks, works will continue with the fitout of the new ground floor staffroom delivering this area early for the start of the new school year 2022. Whilst the main body of works continues with the finalisation of the first-floor structural steel, rafters and roofing followed by the cladding and internal works.

The first floor slab milestone was achieved on the 29th of November 2022. Be sure to keep a close eye on our social media, for more updates on the roof install, façade cladding and the final results of the expansion.
