Rork Projects was engaged to undertake the construction of a PC2 (Physical Containment Level 2) tissue culture room as part of CSIRO’s wider Sydney Consolidation Project within the Westmead’s Innovation Quarter.

The scope of works included laboratory specific works including the tissue culture room constructed to meet the certification requirements for Physical Containment Level 2 (PC2) and in line with the biocontainment and dangerous goods requirements of the facility. It also required, cool room & freezer room specific works including cool room panelling, removal, and replacement of ceiling tiles with bio-guard ceiling tiles and set plaster ceilings, construction of new ceiling height walls, aluminium sections, glazing and door installations, painting and floor finishes, services fit-off, joinery, workstations, loose furniture, and associated accessible bathroom specific works.

The initial program was revised down due to building codes that would not permit such heavy machinery to be installed.

As an Indigenous business, we proudly acknowledge that this project was completed on the traditional lands of the Darug people of the Eora Nation.
