Wa Initiative Wins

For the second consecutive year, Rork Projects has proudly partnered with the Canberra Raiders 50/50 Charity to raise funds for our Wa Initiative.

The Wa Initiative supports Indigenous foundations and not-for-profit organisations in their work in offering quality, secondary education scholarships at leading Australian boarding schools for Indigenous children from regional, rural and remote communities.

The 50-50 Charity Raffle is a not-for-profit fundraising product operated by the 50-50 Foundation. It is the Foundation’s aim to raise significant funds for charities and good causes by partnering with sporting clubs and teams, event owners and charity partners to host fundraising raffles.

50 percent of the prize pool raised at each fundraising raffle goes to one lucky ticket holder who is drawn at random during the event. The remaining 50 percent goes directly towards charitable purposes.

On Sunday, we raised a total of $6,662, that was split 50/50 with winner on the day, Marianne Tetley. More than double the amount of raffle tickets were sold compared to the same event last year. This a huge win for the Wa Initiative.

The icing on the cake for our Canberra team this round, was ‘The Milk’ came home with the win in a nail biting 20-18 against the Newcastle Knights, on the back of a stunning last ditch try from forward Hudson Young

We would like to extend our thanks to the Canberra Raiders as it is only through the support of partners, like them, that we can achieve our goals and continue to make a difference in the lives of Indigenous youths.
